Hands holding dark soil, from Ania Ready’s From Her Mother’s Country.

Ania Ready is a visual artist and writer working across photography, installation and archival intervention. Her work explores women's overlooked histories and the structures of power that shape whose stories are seen and heard, returning attention to lives too often reduced to silence or a footnote.

Her artist book I Also Fight Windmills is held by the Bodleian Library, National Galleries of Scotland, Martin Parr Foundation and Aperture Library.

Life Lines at Wozownia Art Gallery, Poland, 2025. The project responds to the story of Holocaust survivor Naomi Warren through installation, soil and archival film.

About

Ania Ready's work centres on women whose lives have been pushed to the margins of history: overlooked, misrepresented, spoken for by others, medicalised into silence or reduced to footnotes in someone else's story.

Working across photography, collage, text, moving image, sound and installation, she brings archival material into conversation with staged images and physical materials. Soil, water and photographic chemistry have become part of her visual language, carrying traces of place while introducing chance, change and instability.
